I found out yesterday that Mount Eerie is coming to town, playing at a church no less (!!!) (I would have found out sooner had the promoters not been an all-ages distro/”collective”/whatever whose idea of promotion is a Facebook event and since I’m on FB once a month these days…). Since I haven’t thought of Phil Elverum or his musical alter egos since probably first-year university, I’m getting reacquainted with his music. Half of his new album, Clear Moon, is absolutely gorgeous, like the song in this post, “Through The Trees pt. 2”. It gives me hope for the show next week, that he’ll play actual songs and not like, half-formed almost-songs. Fingers crossed.
